Clinical Education Program Developer Academy

Pursuant to section 1004.04(5), Florida Statutes, clinical education training is required for all school district personnel, instructional personnel and individuals in postsecondary teacher preparation programs who instruct, supervise or direct teacher preparation students during field experience courses or internships.

In an effort to meet the needs of local educational agencies and institutions of higher education, the Florida Department of Education (FLDOE) offers the Clinical Education Program Developer Academy (CEPDA) several times a year. The academy is structured to provide a model framework to individuals charged with developing the clinical education training program for their organization. For more information on this program, visit the Clinical Education Training page.

Florida Collaborative Leaders for All Students' Success (FL-CLASS) Program

The Florida Collaborative Leadership for All Students’ Success (FL-CLASS) Program is a new professional learning opportunity that builds upon the successes of previous leadership academies and incorporates learning for educational leaders across the continuum – assistant principals, principals and district-based instructional leaders. The FL-CLASS Program will support Florida’s educational leaders by:

  1. Fostering and sustaining a statewide community of leaders with a shared vision of high-quality instructional leadership;
  2. Deepening knowledge and skills in identifying high-quality teaching and learning along with professional learning necessary to support teacher and school leader growth;
  3. Developing skills in observation, analysis and targeted feedback for educator growth through onsite and virtual coaching and collaboration; and
  4. Developing knowledge of the B.E.S.T. Standards, with a primary focus on leading for literacy, in preparation for and support of implementation.

Florida School Leaders

Establishing a shared vision is critical to wide-scale change; thus, articulating a clear and concise vision for educational leadership in Florida is essential for coherent and meaningful policy, practice, implementation, and change. To that end, Florida School Leaders, the statewide professional learning network for Florida’s educational leaders, is currently undergoing revisions as the FDOE develops a brand-new website design.

The William Cecil Golden School Leadership Development Program

The William Cecil Golden School Leadership Development Program (WCG) was established by the 2006 Florida Legislature to provide a high-quality, competency-based, customized, comprehensive and coordinated statewide professional development system for current and emerging school leaders. The program is aligned with Florida's Principal Leadership Standards and supports the needs of emerging school leaders engaged in formal educational leadership programs, approved district principal preparation programs and district professional development programs for current school leaders. All WCG program resources are located in the WCG section of the Florida School Leaders website.

Youth Suicide Awareness and Prevention Training

The Florida Department of Education, in collaboration with the Statewide Office of Suicide Prevention, established criteria for reviewing youth suicide awareness and prevention training materials and compiled a list of nationally recognized youth suicide awareness and prevention trainings. A list of approved trainings is located on the Student Support Services Project website.
