Professional Preparation & Education Competence

You may demonstrate mastery of Professional Preparation and Education Competence by any one of the following:

• Completion of a state-approved teacher preparation program from a Florida institution and achievement of a passing score on the Florida Professional Education Test earned no more than ten (10) years prior to the date of application
• Completion of a teacher preparation program from an out-of-state accredited or approved institution and achievement of a passing score on the Florida Professional Education Test earned no more than ten (10) years prior to the date of application
• Completion of a Florida state-approved Professional Development Certification Program and achievement of a passing score on the Florida Professional Education Test earned no more than ten (10) years prior to the date of application
• Completion of an approved Florida Educator Preparation Institute program and achievement of a passing score on the Florida Professional Education Test earned no more than ten (10) years prior to the date of application
• Documentation of a master's or higher degree in a science, technology, engineering or mathematics (STEM) field, certification in a grades 6-12 STEM area, a highly effective performance evaluation rating based on student performance on a state or national assessment for an approved STEM high school course and a passing score on the Florida Professional Education Test earned no more than ten (10) years from the date of application
• Completion of specified education courses with grades of at least "C" or "Pass," completion of teaching experience requirement, completion of an approved professional education competence demonstration program, and achievement of a passing score on the Florida Professional Education Test earned no more than ten (10) years prior to the date of application
• Completion of an approved Florida College Professional Training Option for Content Majors, completion of teaching experience requirement, completion of an approved professional education competence demonstration program, and achievement of a passing score on the Florida Professional Education Test earned no more than ten (10) years from the date of application
• Documentation of a valid standard teaching certificate issued by a US state or territory
• Documentation of a valid certificate issued by the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS)
• Documentation of a valid certificate issued by the American Board for Certification of Teacher Excellence (ABCTE) and completion of an approved professional education competence demonstration program
• Completion of two (2) semesters of full-time college teaching experience or the equivalent in part-time college teaching experience and achievement of a passing score on the Florida Professional Education Test earned no more than ten (10) years from the date of application.
