2026 Commissioner’s Summit Focuses on Campus Safety and Security
Miami, Fla., May 14–15, 2026 – The 5th Annual Commissioner’s Summit brought together school district superintendents, presidents from the Florida College System and leaders from the State University System, along with campus safety representatives. This year’s summit focused on campus safety and security. Emphasizing collaboration among K-12 school districts, colleges, universities and public safety partners, the summit highlighted the importance of clear communication, coordinated systems and trusted partnerships in creating safe learning environments for students, faculty and staff.
During the summit, Governor Ron DeSantis signed House Bill 757, expanding safety measures at Florida’s colleges and universities and strengthening protections for students, faculty and staff. The bill’s signing reflects Florida’s steadfast commitment to enhancing campus security for all learners. Through panel discussions and the exchange of best practices, participants gained practical strategies to support implementation, strengthen coordination and advance a more unified approach to campus safety across the state.
