Satisfying Subject Specialization
You may satisfy subject area specialization by any one of the following:
- Meet the degree or course requirements listed in State Board Rule for the subject area
- For certain bachelor's level subjects, earn a passing score on the appropriate Florida Subject Area Examination in the subject for which you apply
- Hold a valid standard certificate from a US state or territory in the same subject area for which your applied (See Reciprocity)
- Hold a valid certificate issued by the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards (See NBPTS Chart) or the American Board for Certification of Teacher Excellence (ABCTE) in the same subject area for which you applied
To qualify for a Florida Temporary Certificate, you must meet subject area specialization in at least one subject for which you apply.
