Computer-Based Testing

The FTCE and FELE are offered on computer at flexible times and locations throughout the year. Minimal computer skills are required to complete the computer-based tests. You need to be comfortable with a Windows environment and with using a mouse, including clicking, double-clicking, dragging, scrolling, and typing an essay.

Information about computer-based tests currently available is posted on the FTCE/FELE contractor website.

For a list of computer-based testing locations, a current list of tests available, or to register, please visit the FTCE/FELE contractor website at www.fl.nesinc.com.

At the Test Center. After being seated for your computer-based test, you will complete a tutorial before taking the actual test. The tutorial demonstrates how to move from question to question, how to mark and change answers, and how to go back and review previously answered or skipped questions. If the test you are taking includes a recorded component or a performance component, you will be shown how these questions will be presented and how to record your responses during the actual test. You will be provided with a pencil and note paper for use during the test. For certain tests, you will also be provided with a calculator.

Score Reporting. Same-day official score reports are not available for any FTCE or FELE examination. However, for tests containing only multiple-choice questions, you will receive your unofficial pass/non-pass status at the end of the test session, except for tests that are undergoing additional quality-control measures and are experiencing score report delays as a result. For tests with a performance component, you will receive a Receipt of Completion rather than an unofficial pass/non-pass status. An official score report will be released within 4 to 6 weeks of your test date. Please visit http://www.fl.nesinc.com/FL_Scores.asp for additional information.

If you do not pass the test or if you attend a score verification session, you must wait 31 days before retaking the test.

Note: Registration for tests on computer is ONLY available online at http://www.fl.nesinc.com/FL_Register.asp.
