Credit by Exam (AP, IB, CLEP, etc.)
Students have the opportunity to earn college credits before high school graduation and while enrolled in a Florida College System institution. Florida offers acceleration programs to secondary and post-secondary students, including earning credit by examinations.
ACC Credit by Examination
College credits are earned after taking a required course in high school and earning a passing score on the corresponding exam. The Articulation Coordinating Committee (ACC) established passing scores and course and credit equivalents for the following examinations:
- Advanced Placement (AP)
- Advanced International Certificate of Education Program (AICE)
- International Baccalaureate (IB)
According to the Articulation Coordinating Committee (ACC), students enrolled in post-secondary institutions also have the opportunity to earn college credits after earning a passing score on the following examinations:
- College-Level Examination Program (CLEP)
- DSST (DANTES)
- Defense Language Proficiency Test (DLPT)
Florida’s public colleges and universities are required to award the minimum recommended credit for AP, AICE, IB, DSST, DLPT, and CLEP exams up to 45 total credits.
