Commissioner Anastasios Kamoutsas

Anastasios “Stasi” Kamoutsas has had a long career serving the people of Florida. He started his career as an Assistant State Attorney for the Miami-Dade Office of the State Attorney, where he prosecuted some of Miami’s most violent criminals. He subsequently represented police officers serving as Counsel to the Dade County Police Benevolent Association. Stasi has been a conservative leader in all major education policy efforts since joining the Florida Department of Education’s Office of General Counsel in 2019. During his tenure at the Florida Department of Education, Kamoutsas went on to serve as General Counsel and then Chief of Staff before being chosen to serve as Deputy Chief of Staff for Governor Ron DeSantis. As Deputy Chief of Staff, Stasi oversaw policy efforts for the Governor’s priority areas of education, law enforcement and emergency management. Over the last 6 years, Stasi has been deeply involved in fighting for parental rights, school choice and eliminating DEI and CRT. He also played an integral role in fighting against COVID mask mandates while supporting the Governor’s efforts to reopen schools to in-person learning in 2020.

Kamoutsas holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Florida International University and his Juris Doctor from Regent University School of Law.
