Teacher and Leader Preparation Implementation Committee to Hold Face-to-Face Meeting in Miami
Tallahassee, Fla. - The Race to the Top Teacher and Leader Preparation Implementation Committee (TLPIC) will meet in Miami on May 9-10, 2012. The purpose of the May 9 meeting is to review the data requested by the committee, determine the data elements for inclusion in the accountability system for Florida teacher preparation programs, and to begin setting measures of performance for these programs.The purpose of the May 10 meeting is to familiarize meeting participants with the Uniform Core Curriculum, field experience, and admission requirements for Florida teacher preparation programs and provide them opportunities to discuss changes needed to ensure that teachers are prepared for the demands of the teaching profession upon completion of a state approved teacher preparation program.
The Committee represents Florida's diversity in culture, community and region, and consists of postsecondary representatives, teachers, principals, district administrators, superintendents, and school board members.
