District Personnel Evaluations Update
The Department of Education has reviewed the initial district personnel evaluation status report released December 5 to address district reports that included duplicate individual personnel records. The updated report is now posted.
Classroom Teacher Category Example
Highly Effective | Effective | Needs Improvement | Developing | Unsatisfactory | |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Original Percentages | 22.2 | 74.5 | 1.9 | 1.0 | 0.3 |
Updated Percentages | 21.9 | 74.6 | 2.1 | 1.2 | 0.3 |
The percentages in each performance category for districts with duplicate records, as well as for the state overall, show very little change from Wednesday's report. Adjustments to the data did not affect any individual teacher's evaluation. Only the personnel counts for each category are different based on the revision.
It is important to remember this is an initial status report - a progress report - that represents information received from districts as of November 30, 2012. Some districts were not able to provide data by this date. A final report will be produced in January 2013 when all districts have reported.
Transparent data reporting as it is received is part of the department's commitment to keeping everyone informed of progress in major initiatives. Issuing progress reports, not just final ones, keeps everyone updated and engaged.
The Department of Education is committed to remaining transparent as we work together through this new personnel evaluation process. Staff at district levels have worked hard to learn a new way of reporting this data. New evaluation systems are part of Florida's effort to improve instruction and student learning.
