Scoring Information

Maximum Percentages Table

The number of correct answers needed to pass a multiple-choice (MC) test may slightly vary from one form of the test to another. For this reason, the Florida Department of Education (DOE) can only provide general guidelines about how many questions must be answered correctly in order to pass each test. The FTCE/FELE Maximum Percentages table shows the maximum percentages of questions that must be answered correctly in order to pass any of the MC tests/subtests and the passing score information for all performance tests/subtests that are currently being administered. This table is updated regularly as changes may occur due to new test forms.

Official Score Reports

Official score reports are posted to examinee accounts within 4 weeks of the test date. You may refer to the score report dates listed on the FTCE/FELE contractor website. The "Understanding Your Scores" page on the contractor website provides additional information about what is provided on your score report.

A copy of your score report will be sent directly to the school district, college, or university you indicated if you designated a recipient during registration.

Passing test results for the FTCE and FELE are submitted electronically to the Bureau of Educator Certification (BEC) automatically at the same time score reports are released to examinees; however, examinees must have an application or other information (e.g., a transcript) on file with BEC in order for their results to be matched to a teacher candidate file.

Score reports released beginning January 2018 are available in examinee accounts for 5 years from the score report release date. Examinees who tested prior to 2018 may request a duplicate score report as detailed below.

Duplicate Score Reports

You may obtain duplicate score reports as follows:
  • Use the duplicate score report request form available to download on the FTCE/FELE contractor website. Fill it out and send it with the correct payment to the address indicated on the form.

The duplicate report will be either posted to your account at http://www.fl.nesinc.com or sent as a hardcopy via U.S. mail. You will receive your duplicate score report in approximately 2 weeks.

Score Verification Sessions

If you receive a non-passing score within 10 scale score points of the passing scale score of 200 or receive a "NOT PASS" result on a performance component subtest/section, you may request an appointment for a score verification session. Registration and payment details can be located via the score verification session webpage.

Score verification sessions allow examinees the opportunity to review written performance responses and/or multiple-choice items answered incorrectly and to submit scoring challenges; however, they are NOT provided for study purposes. Examinees are not given the correct answers to multiple-choice items and are not provided with information on how to improve responses to performance assessments. Score verification sessions are NOT an opportunity to retake the test. You will not be able to change your responses or modify your answers in any way.

All complete challenges (as defined on the Score Verification Session Information document) will be reviewed by the Department, and a response is provided in writing by the Department within 30 days. (Due to weekends and holidays, factor an additional 7 days for your response to arrive). After receiving your Score Verification outcome from the Department, you may dispute your score by requesting an administrative hearing in accordance with the provisions of Section 120.57, Florida Statutes.
